coreSTORE - Sales: How To Set Up a Restocking Fee

In coreSTORE you can setup various service items, in this article we will show you how to, specifically, setup a restocking fee.


Create Restocking Fee

  1. Click Inventory > Items

  1. Click + New

  1. In this example we will name the fee Restocking Fee and the category will be Fees

  1. In the Item Settings section, make sure that Is Service is checked with, in this case, no other checkbox’s are checked

  1. Click the Pricing tab, which will save all settings created on the Item Info page

  1. In this example we will set the restocking fee to 15% of the subtotal.

Make sure that if the Allow Item To Be Sold Below Cost checkbox is showing that it is checked or you will not be able to add this service item to the sale

  1. Click Save

Using The Restocking Fee


  1. When completing a return, add the restocking fee as an item to the order

  1. The system will automatically calculate a 15% restocking fee based on the sub-total

  1. Complete the return as normal
