coreSTORE - Payments - How to change your markup / markdown to show as a convenience fee

Convenience Fee Setup


In coreSTORE you can setup markup or markdown fees for all payment types.


It is the responsibility of each merchant to ensure that the application of convenience fees complies with all applicable local, state, and federal laws and regulations. Laws regarding the use of convenience fees vary by jurisdiction and may be subject to change. Please consult with your legal advisor or relevant regulatory authority to ensure compliance before implementing convenience fees.


This guide will show how to add the markup / markdown in coreSTORE and how to change the verbiage to what you would like should you want it to be displayed differently.



  1. Click on Settings

  1. Add the markup / markdown in percentage


For each payment type you will see a separate field where you can specify a markup (a positive number) or a markdown (a negative number)

  1. Save the markup or markdown and go to the sales screen.

  1. Add a product to the sale

  1. Click Continue

  1. Select the payment type with the markup or markdown

When you add the payment, the system will add the markup or markdown as a separate line item in the sale.

  1. Click Back to get back to the Sales Screen

  1. Click on the linked line item name, then click on Edit in the popup window

  1. Change the Item name to reflect the verbiage that is preferred to show on the sales screen.

  1. Now when you return to the sales screen you should see the new verbiage, and you can complete the sale as normal.


If the verbiage did not update automatically, simply delete the line item for the fee and complete as normal. The fee will re-add to the sale when payment is taken.

Once you have modified the verbiage this will not have to be done for this payment type again, but will have to repeat this for each separate payment type that has a markup or markdown set.
