coreSTORE - Inventory: Variations Tab
1. Variations Tab
Navigate to the Variations tab in your item setup so we can review the available settings.
2. Quantity Units
Quantity Units can be established for your desired products. Quantity units allow you to sell items in different bulk quantities. For example, we have a TestSoap product with a box quantity unit, where selling the item number TestSoapBox will deplete 25 total units from the SKU. To add a new quantity unit, simply click the Add button and specify the name of the quantity size, the quantity itself, cost, selling price, and the item number you want to use for this box quantity unit.
3. Variations
The Variations section is used to establish product variations, such as different colors, sizes, etc. The first step in the process is to define the attributes for the item's variation. For example, in this case, I selected Color as an attribute, hit Add, and chose Blue as a value. You will want to select all available values for this item.
Next, click the Auto Create Variations button, which will generate all variations based on the selected attributes. You will then need to assign an item number, SKU, cost, and selling price for each variation. If you plan to publish the product online, make sure to check the Is Ecommerce Item box.
4. Related Items
In the Related Items field, you can assign products that are similar to the item you are creating. This is helpful if the searched product is out of stock, allowing you to suggest alternative items to your clients.
5. Options
Options are used to define additional features or modifications for an item when it is sold. For example, you might offer an engraving option for an item, or a resizing option if you run a clothing store. Establishing options will allow your user to select these additional features at checkout. To establish options you will want to navigate to Inventory and locate the options submenu.
