coreSTORE - Inventory: Managing Types

In this document, we will cover how to set up Inventory Types in coreSTORE. Inventory Types serve as additional item identifiers, useful for reporting and product categorization. They are particularly important for FFL dealers, as they help identify items that require a bound book entry upon receiving and selling. This guide will walk you through the process of establishing Inventory Types, including the default system types that adhere to ATF guidelines, ensuring accurate and compliant inventory management.

Accessing Inventory Item Types:

To manage the types of inventory items you have in coreSTORE, navigate to "Inventory" on the navigation bar. Then, look for a sub-menu or option titled "Types" ). This will take you to the section where you can create, edit, and manage your inventory item types within coreSTORE.

Your Custom Inventory Types:

This is where you can view and manage the custom categories you've established to classify your inventory items in coreSTORE.

Click on System Types

FFL Dealers: System Inventory Types

FFL dealers using coreSTORE, pay attention! In the top right corner of the "Inventory > Types" section, you'll find a separate area showcasing "System Inventory Types." These pre-defined types are crucial for categorizing firearms within coreSTORE. They include various firearm classifications (pistol, rifle, shotgun, etc.) essential for FFL compliance and proper inventory management.

Click on Done

Click Done to return to the Type main menu.

Add Custom Inventory Types:

This section allows you to create your own custom categories for organizing inventory items within coreSTORE.

Adding a Custom Type: Optics Example

Type Name: Enter "Optics" as the name for your new category. This clearly identifies the type of inventory items it will group.

Bound Book (optional): Depending on your coreSTORE setup, there might be a checkbox or field related to the "Bound Book." This might is relevant for specific regulations or tracking requirements.

Do Not Add To Bound Book

"Do Not Add to Bound Book" Option:

When creating a custom inventory type (e.g., Optics in Inventory > Types), you might see an option like "Do Not Add to Bound Book." This is ideal for serialized items (excluding firearms) that don't require bound book entries within coreSTORE.

Click on Save

Click on Save to finalize your new typ!
