coreSTORE - Inventory: How to create a generic service item
This article will show you how to create a generic service item that can be used very flexibly through coreSTORE. We will show you how to create a service item that has no set price to be set during a sale and another that would have a set price.
Service Item With Set Price
In this example we will setup a Range Rental Fee with a set price per hour.
- Click Items in the Inventory sub-menu:
- Click the +New button in the upper right corner:
- Set the name and the category based on the Service Item you are creating, here we will call it Range Rental Fee and the category will be Fees
- In the Item Settings section of the item, make sure that Is Service is checked along with any other appropriate settings are active or inactive:
- Once the item settings are setup along with the name and category, click the Pricing tab at the top; changing the tab will save the information that has already been entered.
- Fill in, at least, the Cost (Without Tax) and Selling Price
- Click Save
Now when you add the Range Rental Fee to a sale you will be able to adjust the quantity to reflect the time that it was rented for. EX: You rent the range for $10 / hour and a customer wants to rent it for 4 hours; Add the Range Rental Fee to your sale and increase the quantity to 4.
Service Item Without Set Price
In this example we will setup a Range Damage Fee with no set price so the price can be adjusted as needed during the check out process.
- Click Save
- Add the Range Damage Fee to the sale and click on the Price of the item:
