coreSTORE - Inventory: Creating a Series Item

In this guide, we will go over how to establish a Series Item. A series item allows a customer to purchase a pack of items or services that can be redeemed over a specified period of time. A good example is a massage pack of 10 sessions, where the customer can buy the pack and redeem sessions over time. Our system makes it easy to track these redemptions.

The first step in creating a series item is to navigate to the Inventory menu and select the Items sub-menu.

Click on New Item in the top right corner to begin creating your product.

In this example, I have named the item Spa Treatment Package. Any field highlighted in red indicates that it is required.

Next, you’ll need to assign the category that the series service falls under. In this example, I'm using Services > Spa Service since I will be selling a spa package.

Step 4 Screenshot

In the Description field, provide details about your new series item. For example, I described the package, the quantity of redeemable services. You could also include the date range during which the series is valid.
Step 5 Screenshot

In the Item Settings section, make sure to check the Sold in a Series checkbox to indicate that the product is sold as a series.
Step 6 Screenshot

In the Series Quantity field, specify how many times the customer can redeem this item in the series. For this example, I set it to 10, meaning the customer has 360 days to redeem the item until the threshold of 10 is reached.
Step 7 Screenshot

In the Number of Days Series Must Be Used Within field, specify the number of days the product can be redeemed after the sale to the client.
Step 8 Screenshot

If you are not tracking inventory for this item, ensure that you check the Is Service box. This ensures that inventory quantity is not tracked for the product if it's not applicable.
Step 9 Screenshot

Next, navigate to the Pricing tab of your item information to establish the cost and selling price for the series item. Keep in mind, if you have different customer tiers established, you can set different pricing for each tier.
Step 10 Screenshot

Establish a Cost for the series item, if applicable.
Step 11 Screenshot

Establish the Selling Price for the series item based on the total quantity in the series. In this example, you will sell it as 1 unit, which grants the customer 10 redemptions.
Step 12 Screenshot

Click save to save your new series item!
