coreSTORE - FFL: Serial Number Count
An FFL (Federal Firearms Licensee) would want to conduct a serial number count for their in-stock firearms for several important reasons:
Compliance: Ensures adherence to ATF regulations by maintaining accurate and up-to-date records of all firearms in inventory.
Traceability: Facilitates the traceability of each firearm, which is crucial in the event of theft, loss, or investigation by law enforcement.
Inventory Accuracy: Helps verify that the actual inventory matches the recorded inventory, reducing discrepancies and errors.
Theft Prevention: Identifies any missing or stolen firearms promptly, helping to prevent and address theft.
Record Keeping: Enhances the accuracy of record-keeping, which is essential for audits and inspections by regulatory authorities.
Operational Efficiency: Streamlines inventory management processes, making it easier to track and manage firearms inventory efficiently.
Overall, conducting a serial number count is critical for regulatory compliance, operational efficiency, and maintaining the integrity of the firearms inventory.

Filtering Your Count
In the serial number count screen, you don’t need to count all your serial numbers at once. Instead, you can specify the manufacturer and type to get an accurate count in either field. The serial numbers remaining field will update depending on which filters you affect. You can also choose whether to include pending records if your store assigns serial numbers to a pending status in your bound book.
BoundBook Specific Count
You can also choose whether to count across all books or uncheck this option to count only the book you were last tabbed on.
Data & Labels
This section of the screen allows you to export or import data from Excel, print barcode labels, and provides a list of serial numbers that are in stock but have not yet been counted. This is extremely useful for ensuring that you verify every count you conduct.
Counted & Remaining
The field on the right-hand side of the screen shows your confirmation based on the remaining serial numbers versus those you've already counted.
Close Out or Continue Later
Now you can choose whether to close this serial number count or continue later if you wish to come back to it.
