coreSTORE - FFL: Selling a Firearm

How to process the sale of a firearm.


Create New Sale

Select "Sales" in the left hand menu then select "New Sale" in the expanded menu. This will open a new POS transaction.

NOTE: If you have not previously opened a register, the system may stop you from opening an new sale. If this happens select a register and repeat the process.

Add a Customer

The sale of serialized items will required a customer to be attached. You can search for an exiting customer profile by typing their name, phone number, DL # or address in the search field. If the correct record displays select it to add the customer to the sale.

If the customer does not have an existing profile press the "+" button next to the search field and follow the process for creating a customer profile.

Add Firearm

Add the firearm in the field labeled "Enter item name or scan barcode."

Firearms can be added by manually entering or scanning the serial number or UPC.

Adding by Serial Number

If you add the firearm to the order using the serial number it will add the product info and populate the serial number inside the sale.

Adding by UPC

When adding the firearm to the order using the UPC it will add the product info but it will not populate a serial number in the order. To add the serial number click on the orange and white bar. This will open a text field where the serial number can be entered.

Payment

Payment can be collected now or later after the 4473 is completed. To collect payment select the "Continue" button in the lower right corner to display the payment options.

Collect Payment and Comments

From this menu you can select the payment type and "Add Payment" to process the payment.

There is also a comments field in which you can add notes related to the transaction.

Suspend the Sale

Either from this screen or the main POS view (press the back button to close this field) select the orange suspended sale type button labeled "4473." This will create a 4473.

NOTE: Review the settings in your "Suspended Sales/Layaways" to ensure what suspended types will create a 4473. We recommend that you use just one status, such as "4473" to do so.

Confirm Suspend Sale

The system will generate a prompt to ensure you intend to suspend the sale. Select "OK" to proceed.

Get 4473 ID and QR Code

The system will generate a receipt when the sale is suspended. The 4473 ID and the QR code that can be used to log the customer into the 4473 kiosk will be at the bottom of that receipt.

Locate the 4473.

Select "Bound Book" in the left hand menu and "Manage 4473" in the expanded menu to access the Manage 4473 page.

Manage 4473 Page

This is where firearm seller will process the 4473. You can locate a specific 4473 by search for the 4473 ID, serial number or customer name.

At this point you would process the 4473, conduct the required background checks and take payment if you have not already done so. Completing the 4473 will be covered in another document.

Completing the Sale

CAUTION: Completing a sale with a firearm will dispose that firearm in the bound book.

DO NOT complete the sale until the 4473 has been completed and payment has been taken for the firearm.

When ready select Continue to expand the field.

Complete Sale

Selecting complete sale will prompt a text box asking to verify if you would like to complete the sale. Selecting yes will close the sale and dispose the attached firearm.
