coreSTORE - FFL: Private Party Firearm Transfer Process
This knowledge base article will walk you through the process of a Private Party Transfer of a firearm.
Click on Firearm Transfer in the FFL sub menu

Click on + New Transfer

Click on Private Party button at the top of the pop-up

Two questions will appear when the Private Party option is selected.
A. Are Both The Seller And Buyer Present?
Select “Yes” if both the seller and buyer are present and the FFL is facilitating the transfer between the two parties.
Selecting “Yes” will cause the system to act as if you are beginning the transfer process immediately and will automatically create a 4473 (without having to change the suspended status) and switch the answer to Q8 in Section A of the 4473 to Yes.
Select “No” if the firearm is being received from an individual (or non-licensee) but the buying party is not present and the transfer to the buyer will be conducted at a later date.
B. Would You Like To Acquire The Firearm Immediately?
Selecting “Yes” will cause the acquisition of the firearm into the Bound Book immediately when you create the transfer.
Selecting “No” will delay the Bound Book acquisition until Section C of the 4473 is completed with a satisfactory background check. If the response to the background check is “Denied” there will be no acquisition of the firearm when “No” is selected.
This is to facilitate private party transfers where the FFL does not want to acquire the firearm until after the background check is approved.
If you live in a state that has waiting periods or otherwise requires the firearm to be acquired prior to filling out the 4473 and running the background check; select “Yes” to this question.

Enter the information of the seller here. If the seller is not already a customer in your system click the green button to add them into the system.

Enter the information of the buyer. If the buyer is not already in your system, click the green button to add them into the system.

Enter the firearm information to search for the weapon and auto-populate the fields below. If that firearm is not in the system click the green button to add a new firearm. Or you can fill out the information below manually.

If you had searched for and found the firearm from the step before all the fields here should be filled with the exception of the Serial Number field.

When the fields are filled out and the serial number has been entered, click the Add Firearm button to attach it to this transfer.

Once a firearm is successfully added to the transfer, it will show in this table. Repeat steps 7-9, as needed.

Once all firearms have been added to the transfer, along with all the buyer and seller information click the Process button. That will create a transfer in the Firearm Transfer Dashboard and create a suspended sale with the Transfer suspended sales type.
