coreFORCE Advanced - Memberships: Creating a Promotion for No Membership Startup Fee

In this guide, we will walk through establishing a Promotion Code to offer members the ability to waive their Startup Fee. For this example, we will use our Commander Members. To achieve this, we will create a promotion based on the Startup Product associated with the established subscription.

Note : This is for discounting a single product, but if the dealer wants to discount all startup products they'd need to use a product tag, product category or a product type for the requirements section.

1. Click on Products

In the admin backend of coreFORCE, navigate to the Products menu.

Step 1 screenshot

2. Click on Promotions

Locate the Promotions menu under the Products menu.

Step 2 screenshot

3. Click on Promotions

Now, select the Promotions submenu under the Promotions menu.

Step 3 screenshot

4. Promotions Dashboard

On the Promotions dashboard, you will see any established promotions. In this example, you can see that the 10% off Ammo promotion for our Commander Members is still active and established.

Step 4 screenshot

5. Click on ADD

In the top right-hand corner, click the Add button to create a new promotion.

Step 5 screenshot

6. Description

Establish an easily identifiable description for the promotion.

Step 6 screenshot

7. Promotion Code

Establish a short Promotion Code for the promotion, as this will be provided to clients to enter on the checkout page to receive the discounted membership.

Note: If you are running a no-setup-fee special for all new sign-ups, you could set this promotion to Apply Automatically instead of requiring a code.

Step 7 screenshot

8. Click on Start Date

Your Start Date will default to today since the promotion is being created now. However, you can set an Expiration Date if you are creating this promotion for a specific event or sale with a defined timeframe.

Step 8 screenshot

9. Click on Requirements

Next, navigate to the Requirements tab of your promotion setup. Here, you will define the products that will qualify for this promotion.

Step 9 screenshot

10. Click on Requirements

Hit the plus box under the Product Requirements settings. This allows you to specify that the product must be in the shopping cart to qualify for this promotion.

Step 10 screenshot

11. Product

In the Product drop-down, search for and select your defined Membership Startup Product.

Step 11 screenshot

12. Product Requirments

In this example, the requirement specifies the Commander Membership Startup Fee product with a minimum quantity of 1. This means that the product must be present in the shopping cart at checkout for the promotion code or auto-applied code to be valid.

Note : This is for discounting a single product, but if the dealer wants to discount all startup products they'd need to use a product tag, product category or a product type for the Requirements section.

Step 12 screenshot

13. Click on Rewards

Next, navigate to the Rewards tab, where you can specify either a Flat Fee or a Discount Percentage to be applied to the startup fee.

Step 13 screenshot

14. Order Discount Amount

For this example, I will apply an Order Discount of $100.00. Since the Commander Membership Startup Fee is originally $200.00, this promotion reduces the initial payment to $100.00, effectively waiving the startup fee for new signups.

Step 14 screenshot

15. Click on SAVE

Click on SAVE to finalize your new promotion.

Step 15 screenshot

16. Customer Facing

Under the Memberships department on your customer-facing coreFORCE site, locate your Membership Startup item.

Note: If you are an admin, you will also see your Renewal items. However, by default, renewal products are marked as Internal Use Only, meaning your clients will not see them on their end.

Step 16 screenshot

17. Click on ADD TO CART

Click Add to Cart to include the item on your checkout page.

Step 17 screenshot

18. Click on CHECKOUT NOW

Click Checkout Now to proceed to your checkout page.

Step 18 screenshot

19. Promo Code

Enter your Promo Code in the designated field.

Note: If the promotion was set to Apply Automatically, the discount will already be displayed.

Step 19 screenshot

20. Click on Apply Promotion Code

Click the Apply Promotion Code checkbox if this is a manual promotion.

Step 20 screenshot

21. Order Summary

Your Order Summary will now update to reflect the applied discount.
