# coreSTORE - Troubleshooting: Prevent the on-screen keyboard from showing when scanning bar codes

During our implementation of coreSTORE, when using the PWA _(Progressive Web Apps)_ on a Windows Machine the virtual keyboard kept popping up when we scanned even though there is a Bluetooth keyboard attached, if you experience this issue please follow the 2 settings below to fix it.

_NOTE:_ Both settings need to be set, specifically the settings _"Show the touch keyboard when there's no keyboard attached"_ because it is defaulted to "on" and needs to be turned off.

**_WINDOWS 10_**

``` Hide the touch keyboard button on the taskbar```
If you are accidentally pressing the touch keyboard button on the taskbar when you do not wish to use it, here’s how to hide it:
1.  Right-click (or long-press) on the taskbar to display the context menu.
2.  If the **Show touch keyboard button** is checked, select it to clear the check.
``` Prevent the touch keyboard from appearing with no keyboard attached```

If you switch in and out of tablet mode frequently, you can set Windows to not display the touch keyboard outside of that mode:

1.  Select **Start**  > **Settings**  > **Devices**  > **Typing** .

2. Under **Touch keyboard**, if **Show the touch keyboard when not in tablet mode and there’s no keyboard attached** is **On**, select it to turn it **Off**.

****_Note:_**** **_If your PC does not support tablet mode, you won’t see the Touch Keyboard settings._**

**_WINDOWS 11_**
