# coreSTORE - Sales: How to setup a customer as tax exempt

In some cases, you can exempt certain customers from sales tax. This might be relevant for non-profit organizations, government agencies, or resellers who hold valid resale certificates. By setting up tax exemptions, you can ensure they aren't charged sales tax during checkout.

It's important to note that tax regulations can vary by location. Always check your local tax laws to ensure you're following the correct procedures for tax-exempt sales.
