# coreSTORE - Inventory: Establishing an Attribute

In this guide, we will cover creating a new **attribute** for your variation items. For this example, we will create a **Size** attribute.

### 1. Click on Attributes


First, navigate to the **Inventory** menu option and select the **Attributes** submenu from the **coreSTORE menu bar**.

### 2. Click on Add Attribute


In the top-right corner of your **Attributes Dashboard**, click the **Add Attribute** button.

### 3. Attribute Name


In the Attribute Name field enter the name of your desired attribute, in this example we are going to use size.

### 4. Use For Variation


Since this attribute will be used for a variation item, make sure to enable the **Use For Variation Item** option.

### 5. Channels Options


You will also have the ability to use the attribute as a field on your established channels, such as a **custom field**, an **item filtering option**, or a **category**.

### 6. Click on OK


Click on **OK** to save your newly created attribute.

### 7. Attribute Dashboard


In the **Attribute Dashboard**, you should now see your newly created attribute. In the next guide, we will cover managing the values of an attribute.
