# coreSTORE - Getting Started: Enabling Trade Ins



1. Click on Company > Settings

2. Click on Trade Ins

3. Click on Allow Trade Ins

4. Click on Allow Trade Ins

This option will enable the trade in button inside of the sale screen.

5. Taxes

Choose whether you want tax applied when purchasing a trade-in item, and decide if you want your trade-in items to be taxable or not. Typically, most stores do not apply tax when acquiring trade-ins, but they mark "apply tax when selling a trade-in" so that the item is taxable when resold.

6. Require UPC For Trade Ins

This option requires a UPC code for any new trade-in item you purchase. Most stores do not require this.

7. Assign a Default Category for All Trade Ins

8. Completed

Now that this is done, you can return to your sales screen and start using the trade in button to the left of the search bar, indicated by the two arrows.
